Symbols

In a world of symbols and words
Anyone can
The writer in the living room, with glasses resting gently on the bridge of his nose
The woman in the office, with a window shining through and a cat on her lap
The children outside with chalk and concrete
The boy who cries from the darkness with a pencil and pad
The man at the bar with his corporate pen, and a napkin serving beer
Anyone can be, exactly what they want
Anyone can say, exactly what they want
We can share and burn our words for comfort
We can think and scream our words for emphasis
We can do exactly what we want with what we've created.
